Creative Writing
A Writers Collective of Canada (WCC) workshop is unlike any other. It inspires and reflects an individual’s authentic voice back to them. We discover magnificent writing not by focusing on technique but by illuminating the innate strength of authentic voice and empowering it to grow.
In a WCC workshop, you can expect to:
- Go Deep: The facilitator offers writing prompts to inspire deep creative expression. If a prompt doesn’t speak to you, you can write to whatever you desire.
- Write Together: We write together in silence and you will be given one or two minutes’ notice before the writing time is up.
- Be Brave: Everyone will be invited to share their fresh, “first draft” writing. You are free to pass as well.
- Deeply Listen: We respond to each others’ writing by reflecting back to the writer what is strong and memorable about the piece. WCC workshops do not provide technical critique.
WCC bases its work on the Amherst Writers and Artists Method (AWA), founded by Pat Schneider.

3 M’s for a Happier and Healthier You
In this program we explore the neuroscience behind our emotions and learn new techniques to manage when we are in difficult situations. In this highly interactive workshop the participants will learn to identify how they react to life’s events and learn tools to cope with more resilience. The participants will learn tools to prepare for, recover from and adapt to stress, change and adversity.

Mindfulness Meditation & Sharing Circle
About our facilitator:
Jennifer James has been practicing mindfulness and meditation for 13 years and actively teaching since 2015. She loves connecting in community and sharing the power of practice through yoga, meditation, and mindfulness; bringing together the mind, body, heart, and spirit. Jennifer is a certified yoga instructor, mindfulness and mindful self-compassion teacher and coach.
About the program:
In this weekly mindful meditation and sharing circle we will open up a conversation about mindfulness, the foundations, principles and resources – connecting them back to how it shows up in our daily lives. It is an opportunity for everyone present to share, learn, connect and grow. Each session will include a practice of mindful meditation.

The Four Agreements
This program is based on the book by Don Miguel Ruiz. The Four Agreements offer a powerful code of conduct that can transform lives to a new experience of freedom, happiness and love. The Four Agreements are: First: Be Impeccable with Your Word Second: Don’t Take Anything Personally Third: Don’t Make Assumptions Four: Always Do Your Best. During the course we will review each of the agreements and what it means to the participants individually. Everyone will leave with an understanding of the difference applying these agreements will make in their lives and action plan of how to implement them.

Set and Maintain Positive Habits
How many times have you set a goal for yourself with the very “best intentions” of achieving it, only to find that after a short period of time you are back doing the same things you have always done. In this workshop we will explore the elements of Atomic Habits that will teach how to design habits that work for you rather than against you. Based on the book Atomic Habits by James Clear will explore the fundamentals of habit formation so you can accomplish more by focusing on less.

Six Pillars of Self-Esteem – The practice of living
What determines the level of self-esteem is what the individual does and the choices they make within the context of their knowledge and values. It is the discipline of acting in a certain way over and over again day by day in big issues and small. The workshop is designed so the participants journal their personal responses to a series of questions, and identify and set goals to live more powerfully using each of the pillars. It is a powerful way for the participants to learn to feel better about themselves and understand some basic principles on how to continue to develop and grow their level of self-confidence. This two-part program is based on the book “6 Pillars of Self Esteem” by Nathanial Brandon.

The Power of Self-Compassion: Cultivating Emotional Well-being
This workshop will introduce the key concepts and practices of Mindful Self-Compassion (MSC). MSC is a science-backed meditation practice that supports and protects mental health. Research shows self-compassion is strongly associated with emotional wellbeing. Practicing self-compassion can help you cope with life challenges, lower levels of anxiety and depression, and increase healthy habits. Don’t be deceived, self-compassion is NOT about self-pity. On the contrary, this practice helps you to cultivate the inner resources to thrive, especially during difficult times.
During this workshop, you will have the chance to immerse yourself in some of the foundational practices and exercises of mindful self-compassion. The content of this workshop is based on the 8-week MSC program developed by world-renowned Kristin Neff (Researcher) & Chris Germer (Psychologist). This workshop is offered by a Trained MSC teacher.
